Jackson police work 2 shootings within 5 minutes of each other

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson police work two shootings within five minutes of each other Tuesday night.

At 6:49 p.m., police were called to the 200 block of Moss Avenue where they found an unidentified man with gunshot wounds to the stomach.

He was taken to University Medical Center for treatment. No word on his condition.

Police are looking for a suspect known as "Tony" who lives in the area.

He's described as a black male, about 6-feet tall and 175 pounds.

Tony was wearing a red t-shirt and blue jeans.

As Jackson police worked the Moss Street incident, they received another shooting call at 6:53 Tuesday night.

It was on the 3700 block of nearby Jayne Avenue.

A black male was shot in the back in what Sgt. Brady Hightower described as a possible drive-by shooting.

He said there were as many as 20 to 30 bullet casings scattered along Jayne Avenue.

The suspect was seen driving a 2004 black Ford Taurus.

The unidentified victim also was taken to UMC for treatment.

No word on his condition.
