HINDS COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A bridge near Utica is closed Wednesday after Hinds County officials noticed signs of decay and danger.
The bridge is located on Cayuga Road, northwest of Utica.
Two large cracks appeared in the middle of the bridge overnight, which led to it's closure.
Public Works Director Carl Frelix said during an inspection in March, parts of the structure were recommended for repair.
Monday, Hinds County supervisors approved the funding to replace the bridge that was built in 1975.
This is one of five bridges in the county that are now closed or in the process of repair.
