JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Hundreds gathered at JSU's college of business Wednesday to recognize a student who almost lost her life after a tragic accident.
It happened in 2008 as then 19-year-old Chelsea Gladney was headed to church.
She was trying to merge onto Ellis Avenue in Jackson when her car became lodged underneath an 18-wheeler and burst into flames.
Gladney suffered severe burns over most of her body and lost both legs.
And less than a year later she was attending classes at Jackson State University.
Faculty members said her determination is an inspiration to all.
