Latest MEMA report: Nearly 200 homes damaged by storm

PEARL, MS (WLBT) - The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency reported Sunday that nearly 200 homes were destroyed throughout the state by Saturday's severe weather and tornadoes. That number will possibly rise.

In Attala County, 35 homes were reported damaged and seven people injured. Sixty homes were reported damaged and 25 people injured in Holmes County, 48 damaged homes and one injury in Monroe County and 42 homes damaged in Warren County. MEMA is reporting an 114 homes in Choctaw were damaged with 15 people injured there. Yazoo County suffered the most devastation with 319 homes damaged.

FEMA represented are expected in the state soon.

MEMA deployed its Mobile Operations Unit to Yazoo County, and nearly 80 Mississippi National Guardsmen, including 50 military police, were sent to Choctaw and Yazoo counties.

Mississippi Department of Transportation reported that all state-aid roadways and the Natchez Trace are open.

The fatality total remains at 10, with five deaths from Choctaw County, four in Yazoo County, and one in Holmes County.
