Parents Protest Against Closings of Biloxi Schools

Posted: Updated:
BILOXI, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

In Biloxi, a group of parents hit the streets, demanding the removal of school superintendent, Paul Tisdale.

The parents are upset over the school board's decision to close three Biloxi schools.

Their protest went from the streets straight to Dr. Tisdale's office.

At least 20 parents chanted as they marched around the Biloxi school district administration building.

The protesters also sang songs and prayed.

The parents simply want the school board to reconsider its recent decision to close Nichols and Beauvoir Elementary Schools and Michel Sixth Grade School.

The group plans to protest once again Tuesday morning at the same spot.

They will also present their petition that includes more than 1,200 signatures to the Biloxi City Council.
