JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - State police have a man in custody on possible drug charges after a brief chase Tuesday.

It began shortly after 8 p.m. at the Exxon gas station on Beasley Road when unmarked law enforcement SUVs pulled in and a red Dodge station wagon took off.

We spotted unidentified substances being tossed out of the window of the red car as agents pursued it westbound on Beasley Road. The car was quickly stopped and a handgun and some cash was recovered.

An unidentified man was handcuffed and taken away.

An agent on the scene said they could not comment but a statement will be faxed to WLBT Wednesday morning.
