Walkers support multiple sclerosis research

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A crowd of walkers came out early Saturday for a walk to benefit multiple sclerosis research.

Our own Wilson Stribling served as emcee for the event. This is the first year it's been held at Renaissance in Ridgeland. Light showers didn't stop the walkers from getting exercise and helping a good cause.

Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological disease that affects how the brain transmits information to the rest of the body. There's still no cure for MS.

"We also use money here locally to serve our clients in the state with programs and services, educational programs, self help groups, financial assistance programs to try and make our clients lives a little bit easier," said Angie Jackson with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society hoped to raise $40,000 from Saturday's walk.
