HOLMES COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Three more counties are added in the request for federal disaster aid.  Governor Haley Barbour announced that federal assistance will include residents in Monroe, Warren and Union counties affected by the April 24th storms.

Those counties are now eligible for individual assistance from FEMA.  Barbour also announced Attala, Choctaw, Holmes, and Yazoo counties are eligible for direct assistance from the corps of engineers.

"All the governments involved, all the counties expect Yazoo City is the only municipality that we have encouraged them to use the corps if they can.  Now Saturday we've been advised directly that the corps will be available to do debris removal and other mission assignments for these counties," said Governor Haley Barbour.

Governor Barbour and First Lady Marsha Barbour toured Holmes and Yazoo counties Saturday. They also visited operation centers in Yazoo City and Lexington.
