Holmes County shooting leaves 1 dead, another injured

HOLMES COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - One man is dead and another in the hospital after a shooting in rural Holmes County.

It happened around 10 p.m. Sunday on Howard Road, between Tchula and Lexington.

Investigators believe, 27-year-old Ladrick Benford, opened fire from his car striking two people in another car.

Twenty-four-year-old Anthony Petty was killed. Twenty-five-year-old Overton Patrick is being treated at a Jackson hospital.

Benford is charged with murder and aggravated assault.

There's no word yet on what prompted that deadly shooting.
