TERRY, MS (WLBT) - A convenience store in Terry was robbed at gunpoint Monday night.
It happened just before 6 p.m. at the Midway Grocery Store on Midway Road. Witnesses said a black male, dressed like he was in 20 degree weather ran into the store with a gun and demanded money. Two clerks inside the store pulled out the cash drawer.
A customer said at first he thought it was a joke until he saw the weapon. The customer handed over the cash and the man ran out. He dumped the cash drawer nearby and escaped with the money.
"I said Lord just spare my life. That's the only thing that I could say. I said just spare my life cause I got three kids at home," said the store clerk.
"I saw this man over there just sneak in the woods and he just got up and started running and pulled a gun out and went inside the store," said Brandi Loar, a store customer.
No one was injured. Deputies said the Dollar General store on the frontage road at I-55 in Terry was robbed over night. The robber used rubber mallets to break the hinges on the safe to take the cash. Investigators believe the two cases are connected.
