BRANDON, MS (WLBT) - Charges have been upgraded against the man suspected in the brutal death of white supremacist Richard Barrett.

More details came out Tuesday morning in Vincent McGee's preliminary hearing. He's now charged with capital murder, in addition to robbery and arson.

McGee was arrested April 22nd just hours after Barrett's body was found. The 67 year old had been stabbed, beaten and burned.

Three other people have been charged as accessories.

The undersheriff testified this morning that McGee told investigators he hit and stabbed Barrett after Barrett made sexual advances.

"He admitted he had gone to Barrett's to get on his Facebook account on the computer. While there he said Barrett made a sexual advance on him and it set him off pretty much. He got upset and hit him and stabbed Barrett" said Rankin County Undersheriff Brian Bailey.

Vincent McGee was denied bond. His case will be presented to the next Rankin County Grand Jury, which meets in June.

Prosecutors say they will determine at a later date, if they will seek the death penalty.
