3 arrested at Flowood restaurant

Posted: Updated:

FLOWOOD, MS (WLBT) - A weekend outing at a Flowood restaurant turned ugly and ended with the arrest of three people.

Twenty-one-year-old Latesha Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; 21-year-old Damarcus James of Jackson; and 20-year-old Skina Abdul-Rahim of Brooklyn, New York, were arrested for disobeying a police officer among other charges after a disturbance at Cheddars restaurant Saturday evening involving as many as 25 people.

Cell phone video was e-mailed to WLBT News by someone claiming that Flowood police officers acted inappropriately.

However, Chief Johnny Dewitt told WLBT his officers responded correctly and there is no investigation.

Chief Dewitt said the group had become unruly, shouting obscenities and refusing to leave the premises.

Dewitt said James assaulted one of his officers as he tried to arrest Johnson.
