UNION COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Two years ago investigators discovered a house of horrors in Union County. Thursday, a teenager faced a judge in connection with the death of her infant stepsister in that home.
19-year-old Ena Barreto Torres admitted she fatally wounded the two-year-old child.
On the witness stand she also revealed shocking conditions she and seven other adopted children lived in.
Not only did she fear her parents, but she did as she was told. That included whatever it took to quiet her sister.
After the incident, Torres testified her mother wanted to throw the injured child in the septic tank to hide the body.
Torres was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Meanwhile, the search continues for Ramon and Janet Barreto.
The couple disappeared last year.
