JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Earlier this week we told you about a local salon's efforts to join a nationwide movement. This week, Raymond's hair salon in Jackson has been collecting cut hair to help with the Gulf oil spill.
Several other other beauty shops, and even pet groomers, have dropped off hair at his Old Canton Road business.
This morning Vaughn boxed up the materials, including a few bags of women's nylons, and set out for Diamondhead.
The hair is stuffed into the nylons to make long tube shapes, then the tubes will be stuffed into a heavier mesh to make an oil-absorbent boom.
"They're stuffing the nylons down there. We're gonna go and learn how to do it. Hopefully next week we will be able to do that ourselves, take it down there already done," Vaughn says.
