George Walker dies at age 83

CLARKSDALE, MS (WLBT) - A prominent Coahoma County businessman and community leader has died.

George Walker of Clarksdale died Friday at his home. He was chairman of the state board of community and junior colleges. Hinds Community College president Clyde Muse said Walker made a strong impact on the college system in the area of workforce training.

In 1978 walker founded Delta Wire in Clarksdale. The company made wire used in tires it closed last year.

Funeral arrangements are pending. George walker was 83-years-old.
