STATE OF MISSISSIPPI (WLBT) - Wednesday is Red Cross Day, and the organization has provided assistance to a number of victims of the April 24th tornadoes and the storms that hit May 1, 2010.
Some people who give a donation often wonder how it's used, so here are some examples of how the money is spent.
$20 provides two meals to a disaster victim served at a shelter site or through mobile feeding units.
$25 provides a cleanup kit for one family which comes with household-cleaning supplies while $50 covers delivery of cleanup and comfort supplies for a family of four.
And $75 covers the costs to feed and shelter a storm victim for one day.
If you would like to make a donation call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767 or 1-800-RED-CROSS, or you can go online to www.redcross.org.
