JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A man was shot in the foot outside a Family Dollar store in Jackson.  Officers believe his girlfriend is to blame.  A gunshot was fired at the Family Dollar Store on the corner of Clinton Boulevard and Dixon Road.  People saw the altercation between Regina McLins and James Shaffer and called police.  Officers caught up with the couple a mile away at the corner of Bullard Street and Ford Avenue.

"The fast response and the good description given by the person that identified the fight, they were able to give the correct information on the car.  Communications put out the correct info that led us to identifying the car and stopping it," said JPD Sgt. Brady Hightower.

Shaffer was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for injuries to his foot. McLins was arrested. Sgt. Hightower stated charges were pending the outcome of their investigation.
