JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - It has been one week since the violent hit and run that sent 34 year old Willie Love to the intensive care unit at University Medical Center and still no word on the driver who never turned around.

"I just feel like not no one is coming forward.  If they did it once they'll do it again," said Derrick Taylor.  He was driving on Terry Road near Linde Road just after 1:00 a.m. Saturday when he was flagged down.

Someone had been struck by a vehicle when crossing the street.  Taylor got out to help and realized it was his close friend.

"When I came to check on him, he wasn't really responding at all.  When I got down to look at him, he was broke all to pieces," said Taylor.  "He was in very bad shape.  I broke down.  I had to cry because I haven't seen anything like that in my life."

The impact was so strong, Love was knocked out of his shoes.  One was found several feet from Love and another was found several yards away.  Witnesses believe the vehicle that struck Love was a silver SUV, possibly a Ford Expedition.

Pieces of the vehicle were scattered across the crime scene.  Family and friends were hoping for answers.

"Just let someone know what happened or give us a description of who did it or whatever it may be so we can put it to rest because it is hurting his family and hurting him also," said Taylor.
