JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - President Barack Obama has approved a federal disaster declaration for six North Mississippi counties hit by severe weather in early May.
Governor Haley Barbour said Friday the move will give residents access to federal assistance programs in Alcorn, Benton, Lafayette, Prentiss, Tippah and Tishomingo counties.
The severe weather system spawned two tornadoes and heavy rain on May 1st and 2nd.
