JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – There were some frightening moments Monday at a south Jackson post office when a car crashed through its front doors.
Shortly after 2 p.m. Jackson police responded to the scene at the postal facility on Langley Street.
Witnesses said a woman driving a white 2000 Ford Minivan was attempting to park in the handicap space when it happened.
The vehicle shattered the front large glass doors, mangled surrounding metal and plowed through an inside wall.
"Something happened to her vehicle. She's not sure if the accelerator got stuck or what, but the vehicle went through the door and went inside the business. We're thankful and fortunate that no one was hurt, no one was injured. The fire department arrived on scene and was able to assist the individual," said JPD Officer Joseph Daughtry.
The unidentified woman faces no charges at this time.
Post office officials said the accident will not interfere with normal operations or mail service.
