Shots fired, one injured on Valley Street

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A stream of bullets are unloaded in a residential area of Jackson Wednesday, leaving one man injured.

Around 11:30 a.m., close to a dozen shots were fired at 365 Valley Street.  Then, a house at around the corner at 402 Fredrica Street was also hit.

Small children heard the gunfire.  They watched from a doorway across the street as police cars converged at the Valley Street house.

A young man inside the home was shot in the abdomen.  He was taken from the house on a stretcher and transported to the hospital.  Witnesses identified him as Jeffrey Wilson with the nickname "Little 'Twon".

WLBT was told the gunman then jumped into a green Pontiac car, sped around the corner and fired at least one more bullet.  That shot hit 402 Fredrica Avenue.  A woman inside that home was shaken but was otherwise okay.

As of Wednesday afternoon, there was no word on suspects.
