CAMP SHELBY, MS (WLOX) - The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is gearing up Wednesday for a major road construction project on a main state highway.
MDOT has planned to build a new interchange on Highway 49 at the south entrance of Camp Shelby near Hattiesburg.
Costing about 50 million dollars, the venture will give drivers coming in and out of Camp Shelby unrestricted access to the highway.
Frontage roads on both sides of the highway will be built to relieve congestion in the area.
The plan also includes the construction of a bridge from US 98 to the camp's South Gate Entrance.
