JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Thursday was graduation day for more than 600 who attended medical school at University Medical Center in Jackson.

At the Mississippi Coliseum, the school handed well-earned degrees to 111 doctors of medicine and 36 doctors of dental medicine.

Degrees in nursing, physical therapy, health science and allied health were also awarded.

Several married couples received degrees together including Puja Craddock who will practice pediatrics and Jay Craddock who will practice ophthalmology.  The couple plans to stay in Jackson.

"We actually met in school, got married in school, we studied together.  It was nice to have someone to rely on," said Jay.

His wife Puja explained her experience.  "It was a good experience, a lot of hard work and dedication, but we made some great friends.

The ceremony marked the medical center's 54th commencement.
