JACKSON, MS (WLBT) – The man accused of the brutal murders of two Tougaloo College students is sentenced to double life in prison.

Twenty three year old Shawn States was found guilty Friday by a Hinds county jury.

He was charged with the April 2007 shooting deaths of Justin Howard and Antoine Reece.

The two Iraqi War veterans were found dead in their northeast Jackson apartment.

Investigators said States shot Howard and Reece then fled to Miami in Reece's vehicle where he was arrested after using the victims' credit cards.

He was sentenced to two consecutive life terms with no possibility of parole.
