YAZOO COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Almost a thousand victims of last month's tornado in Yazoo County have found help through a DHS Program.
The Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is administered by the Mississippi Department of Human Services. The program has provided more than $653,000 for groceries to more than 3,700 people in five affected counties. The allotted benefits are based on income and resources.
The program adds to aid for the April 24th storm victims enrolled in the supplemental nutrition assistance program, formerly known as the food stamp program. People in seven counties have received more than one-point-one million in food-replacement benefits.
