PIKE COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - A traffic stop by a MDOT enforcement officer lands two Texas residents in jail Monday.
Around 7 a.m. officers stopped a 2003 freightliner tractor pulling a refrigerated trailer through the northbound Interstate 55 Pike County inspection facility.
Officers became suspicious of the driver and co-drivers actions and answers to questions.
After an inspection of the trailer which was carrying watermelons authorities discovered six large bundles of marijuana.
The two men inside were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and conspiracy to deliver marijuana. Both are being held in the Pike County jail without bond awaiting arraignment.
