RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Two people are dead and one person is injured following a boating accident on the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
Wildlife Fisheries and Parks spokesman Jim Walker said it happened Sunday night between Ratliff Ferry and Flag Island.
A staging area for first responders was set up off Highway 43 near Tommy's Trading Post.
An assistant for the Rankin County coroner told WLBT two white males were killed. Their identities are not being released until family members have been notified.
A spokesperson for UMC says one person was airlifted to their emergency room.
According to Walker, the preliminary investigation revealed one vessel collided with another then ran up onto the embankment.
Officials with the Reservoir Patrol, the Rankin County sheriff's department, and Wildlife Fisheries and Parks continued their investigation Monday.
