MCCOMB, MS (WLBT) - During the height of Wednesday's afternoon storms a pipe burst in McComb's mall causing water damage.

Mall officials said around 3 p.m. a ten inch roof drain pipe ruptured in the Edgewood Mall just off Interstate-55 South.

Edgewood Mall owner Craig Haskins said the drain pipe gave way, opening the ceiling and causing some flooding in several stores.

Haskins said the damage was not caused by the weather.

Heavy rain poured into the building through a hole left by the roof drain break.

The damage was contained to the south end of the mall.

Clean-up crews worked for hours mopping the affected area and pumping standing water from the floors of the businesses like the Sound Shop.

"We got here, and all the ceilings have caved in, and all the sheet rock was on the floor, full of water.  We're pumping out a lot of dirty water out of the Sound Shop.  We've gotten out three tanks of 55 gallons already, and there's a lot more to go," said Patrick Wallace of ServiceMaster.

The mall remained open, and officials said no injuries were reported.

No estimate was available on the extent of the damage.
