-Squirrel knocks out power for thousands in metro area

RIDGELAND, MS (WLBT) - A squirrel knocks the power out for several thousand Entergy customers in Ridgeland Wednesday.

Electricity has since been restored to the area.

Entergy officials told WLBT around 5 p.m. a squirrel caused a short circuit in a sub-station.

At maximum, just over 3,000 customers were without power.  The outage even affected businesses on and around County Line Road.

The outage caused some issues with rush-hour traffic leaving authorities to direct motorists.

Entergy said the power came back on around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday night.
