VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) - Top military engineers are in the River City Thursday, sharing their knowledge from the battlefield.

The 412th Theater Engineer Command's annual joint War Fighter Seminar is being held in Vicksburg.

The goal of the seminar is to teach brigade-level officers how to operate in a joint environment, with multiple service engineers all working in the same area.

Courses are designed to teach army engineers to work closer with the navy, air force and coast guard on construction and engineering projects.

Eight combat engineers who recently served in Iraq and Afghanistan are sharing their experiences from combat zones, with more than 200 senior-level army engineers.

Those attending said their goal is to get all branches of the military to operate seamlessly when deployed to the same area.

"This particular conference, we've got active component soldiers army reserve, national guard, gives us an opportunity to network with the different entities out there and find out what's going on in their world and just putting all that together to provide our soldiers the best training and equipment we can," said Sergeant Major Paul Yingst with the Mississippi Air National Guard.

The theme of this year's course is "Reaching the vision through a culture of greatness."

The seminar runs through Friday at the Vicksburg Convention Center with classes starting at   7 a.m.
