
JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A top USDA official has been indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday.
Doctor Samuel E. Thornton was indicted on three counts following a two-year investigation stemming from a claim for reimbursement submitted to Southwest Mississippi RC&D.
The Raymond native served as a special assistant for inter-governmental affairs with the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Thornton recently presented the keynote address during Hinds Community College's Spring Commencement on May 21st.
