JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The suspect, wanted for a fatal stabbing in a Jackson night club, is now in police custody.

J.P.D. Spokesman Officer Joseph Daughtry said 27-year-old Ledrick Simmons of Jackson surrendered to authorities Saturday evening.

An arrest warrant was issued for Simmons in connection with the murder of 26-year-old Marcus Smith of Jackson.

Witnesses told police Simmons stabbed Smith in the neck with a broken beer bottle while inside Chuckie's Lounge in the 200 block of East Ridgeway Street.

Smith later died at University Medical Center.

Simmons is being charged with murder.

Jackson police have investigated five separate shootings incidents at the club so far this year.
