Gov. Barbour skips out on meeting with Pres. Obama

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Governor Haley Barbour skipped a meeting Friday with President Barack Obama about the gulf oil spill.

A Barbour spokesman says the governor was in New York Thursday to meet with bond rating agencies and will attend the annual Mississippi Picnic in New York's Central Park Saturday.

This is the second time Barbour has skipped a meeting with the president about the oil spill. The governors of Louisiana, Alabama and Florida all met with the President Friday in Louisiana.

The first oil from a ruptured underwater well reached a Mississippi Barrier Island Tuesday.
