Today is the 66th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy during World War II.
The Allied Invasion began on Tuesday, June 6th 1944. It marked the start of the Allied Liberation of Western Europe.
Allied forces carried out the operation in two phases, an air assault and an amphibious landing. People in a small French village paused Sunday to remember those who fought during the invasion. The town was one of the first liberated by allied forces.
