Cub scouts sharpen skills at day camp

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Hundreds of scouts are trying to rise in rank at the Ag Museum this week.

This year's cub scout day camp theme is "Around the World in Five Days."

Campers learn about geography and the cultures of different countries.

Scouts also get to play sports, and campers learn how to safely shoot b.b. guns and bow and arrows.

Scout leaders say the program gives the boys a reason to get out of the house and teaches them independence.

Organizers say between 325 and 350 people attend the program daily.

The camp began this Monday and will be held until Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
