Art exhibition featuring the IBC poster artist opens in Flowood

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The International Ballet Competition is just a few days away in the capitol city.

And a local art gallery opened a new exhibition Thursday in honor of the "festival of dance." It features the IBC's poster artist, Brent Funderburk.

You'll find Funderburk's watercolors on display inside Bryant Galleries in Flowood, as well as inside Thalia Mara Hall in Jackson, where the IBC is held.

Every four years, the IBC selects a Mississippi artist to represent the Olympic-style competition.

"These aren't, say, your grandmother's watercolors. These are really contemporary, exciting works of art," said David Lambert, president of Bryant Galleries.

You can meet the artist Thursday night at an opening reception between 5:30 and 8 PM Thursday at Bryant Galleries. It is open to the public.

The exhibition runs through July 16th.
