Man drowns in Newton County

NEWTON COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - Officials say a Newton County man drowned Thursday afternoon in that county.

Sheriff Jackie Knight told WLBT Darnell Nash, who was around 40-years-old, was fishing in a creek on Highway 80 between Lake and Lawrence with his brother and a friend.

The sheriff said Nash was reported to have seizures and may have suffered one and fell into the water.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
