Former teacher gets 15 years in prison

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Former music teacher Joseph Eugene Council of Long Beach will spend 15 years in prison for sex and computer crimes against two female students from different Coast schools.

Circuit Judge Roger Clark sentenced the 34-year-old Council Thursday on guilty pleas to five charges. Council also must register as a sex offender.

A state prosecutor said Council was the choir teacher of 1 student, a 14-year-old at Pass Christian Middle School. Council was school band director of the other student, a 16-year-old, while he taught at St. Stanislaus and Our Lady Academy in Bay St. Louis.
