JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - MDOT crews continued working Friday to replace the deteriorating bridge on I-20 Westbound overlooking State Street in Jackson.
Progress has been made since the work began earlier this year. Crews have built footing and columns, and are currently working to complete a retainer wall. Beams should be in place by the end of June.
Still, MDOT estimates the $15 million project won't be complete until April of 2011. Meanwhile, detours are in place so motorists can drive around the construction.
Other MDOT projects include widening the Siwell Road exit off I-55, as well as reapplying traction material to I-55 between Lakeland Drive and Fortification Street. MDOT officials said the traction material wasn't successful first time is was applied.
MDOT also plans to widen I-20 West of Pearson road.
