JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - It's a great time of year in Mississippi. The most colorful fresh fruits and vegetables are ripe for the picking, and the Mississippi Farmers Market has them all.
The Farmers Market on the Fairgrounds in Jackson held its summer kickoff Saturday. Visitors enjoyed live music, cooking demonstrations, and plenty of fresh produce.
Jackson celebrity chef Luis Bruno was on hand, shooting a promotional spot for his new TV show to air on Mississippi Public Broadcasting. "Cooking for Life with Luis Bruno" will show us how to prepare light and delicious food.
"If you want sugar in it, we're substituting with sugar substitute. You want flour, we're substituting wheat flour. We're trying to reduce the fat, calories, change a lot of things around, put my flair into it," Bruno says.
The Farmers Market will be open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
