JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Police have arrested a Jackson teen in connection with the weekend murder of a Jim Hill High School student. The girl was shot while attending a get together in a highway 80 hotel room, Sunday morning.

Tuesday morning, her accused killer, 18-year-old Darion Givens, made his initial appearance in Jackson Municipal Court. He is being charged with murder and possession of marijuana.

Falisha Miller's family was present during Darion Given's appearance morning. They did not know how the two knew each other.

According to his Facebook page, Givens attends Wingfield High School.

Falisha's mother say's she was a good girl, and she never expected this.

"It destroyed us cause she wasn't that type of girl" said Falisha Spann, Miller's mother. "We don't understand. It just happened so quick. She don't deserve that, she don't deserve none of that. She was just a baby. She ain't but a baby 16 years old."

Police say they developed Darion Givens as a suspect after interviewing people who were inside the hotel room at the time of the shooting.

Police are also looking for 15-year-old Jasper Bell of 2210 Hill Avenue, for the charge of accessory after the fact of murder.
