Steve McNair, Jr. Ruled Ineligible

HATTIESBURG (WLBT) - Highly touted freshman wide receiver, and son of the late great NFL legend Steve McNair, Steve McNair, Jr. has been ruled academically ineligible by the NCAA. The former Oak Grove High star, who had signed a scholarship offer with Southern Miss, will now attend Pearl River Community College in the Fall.

McNair, Jr. (6'0", 190 lbs) made news late last Fall when he verbally committed to Southern Miss despite drawing attention from a handful of bigger name programs. He helped lead the Warriors to the Mississippi High School Activities Association 6A State Championship game, where Oak Grove was beaten by South Panola.

Pearl River Community College (Poplarville, MS) is annually among the nation's top junior college football programs. The Wildcats, coached by Tim Hatten, have made a practice of sending 2-year players on to reputable Division-I programs.
