The State Court of Appeals has now upheld the conviction of a Jackson man.

JACKSON, MS (AP)--New this morning!  The State Court of Appeals has now upheld the conviction of a Jackson man.

The man was sentenced to life in prison in the deaths of three people back in 2005.

Dexter Lipsey was convicted in Hinds County back in 2007.

The convictions were for the shooting deaths of J.W. Gilbert, Bruce Rankin and Louise Tillman Ray.

He was also convicted of kidnapping Rebecca Verden.

Lipsey was sentenced to three life terms in prison plus 30 years for the kidnapping, all to run consecutively.

Prosecutors say Lipsey walked into Ray's Jackson home carrying a rifle.

He then demanded $25 that he said Ray owed him.

When she would not hand over the cash, he shot her.

Lipsey also shot Rankin and Gilbert, who family members say was Ray's boyfriend.
