JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - There's a push Thursday for congressional passage of legislation to name the new FBI building in Jackson.
Senators Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker along with congressman Bennie Thompson reached an agreement to name the building after three civil rights workers killed in 1964 and the FBI agent who led the investigation into the murders.
The facility would be designated the "James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, Michael Schwerner, and special agent Roy K. Moore federal building."
The bill, which passed the house on a voice vote in late March, is currently pending in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
