JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The International Ballet Competition took a break from the contest for a special event. Performers who did not advance to Round II were invited to dance their contemporary pieces for the Edward Stierle Contemporary Showcase Sunday.
It was held at Belhaven University Center for the Arts. The event is named after a talented dancer who competed in the IBC back in 1986 and left with a Junior gold medal. At just 19 he was diagnosed with AIDS and died four years later. All proceeds from the performance will benefit the non-profit organization Dancers Responding To Aids.
