JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - A Jackson caregiver is back behind bars after eluding authorities for months.
Thirty-four-year-old Stephanie Fields was apprehended Monday when she attempted to file a claim with her insurance agent after one of her personal care homes burned down under suspicious circumstances.
Fields was arrested and indicted in February on a variety of charges including identity theft and exploitation of a vulnerable adult.
She was indicted again in April on an additional 15 counts of exploitation of a vulnerable adult, and one count of accessory after the fact in culpable negligent manslaughter for the death of 43-year-old Janis Hollins.
Hollins died in January of complications from hypothermia while living in one of Field's unlicensed personal care homes on Barrett Avenue.
