WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP):  This story just coming in to the WLBT newsroom.

An official with the Obama administration says the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan has been summoned to Washington.

General Stanley McChrystal is to explain his controversial comments to colleagues about the president that were printed in a recent interview.

He has been directed to attend the monthly white house meeting on Afghanistan and Pakistan in person tomorrow instead of over a secure video teleconference.

General McChrystal is to discuss his comments with President Barack Obama and top Pentagon officials.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, McChrystal is described by an aide as "disappointed" in his first oval office meeting with President Obama.

The article also says that although McChrystal voted for Obama, he says the two failed to connect from the start.

McChrystal says he has apologized for his comments.
