FLORENCE, MS (WLBT) - A Florence woman has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars in the death of her boyfriend's mother.
Forty-eight-year-old Tammy Burchfield plead guilty to manslaughter after finally admitting to shooting 85-year-old Ruth Griffin.
Griffin was found May 28 outside her home with a single gunshot to the neck.
The victim's son, 66-year-old Robert Griffin was arrested on felony obstruction of justice and misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges.
Burchfield and Griffin originally told Rankin County authorities the elderly woman shot herself.
