RANKIN COUNTY, MS (WLBT) - They were going to be rounded up and put to death; then after much protest, packed up and shipped out.
Well, now it looks like they are going to stay put.
We're talking about the flock of about 200 Canada geese that call the Ross Barnett Reservoir home.
Some residents in the area consider them a nuisance because of the huge amounts of droppings they leave along the shorelines.
A plan to kill them was dropped after huge opposition from the public.
Moving them proved to be more than officials could handle, so for now, the feathered visitors will stay put.
