Jackson water pressure restored

Posted: Updated:

JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - Jackson water system pressure has returned to normal, but a boil water notice remains in effect for most of the city.

City workers will take 120 samples from locations around Jackson Friday to send to the health department. After two consecutive days of clear tests, the precautionary boil water notice can be lifted. That would mean Sunday, at the earliest.

Workers have bypassed the 54-inch main near O. B. Curtis plant. Crews found that a cap did blow off the main and city workers and contractors will be repairing the line tonight.

Customers who get their water from the city's well system are not affected.
